SIR - I read with interest the Sinn Fein representative talk about how we don't want Tesco in Ballycastle and how we need more houses instead. Has he never never looked around him? There is not one inch of space in Ballycastle that is not crammed with houses and eyesore apartments.
Developers are now knocking down beautiful houses to build more of these awful apartments. To say the people of Ballycastle don’t want Tesco is incredible. If there are only 14 objections is dosen’t represent the Ballycastle community as a whole.

Most likley the objections are from the “family businesses” we’re all being asked to save. Why? These family businesses employ family members in the top jobs. Nothing for the town’s people except the lowest jobs, great for the in-laws and the first cousins twice removed!

Shops where getting served with a smile is never heard of. Cafe’s which say last orders at 5pm and at 2.30pm that have no food left. “Sorry we were very busy” shops that close on wednesday afternoon - who cares about customers.

Ballycastle is the only town that dosen’t welcome new shops. Look at Coleraine and Ballymoney thriving towns with all the big shops and they are buzzing. So come on Dunnes, Primark and LIDL give Ballycastle a desperatley needed heart transplant. And roll on Tesco.

It is said in Business if you stand still you are actually going backwards. So come on Ballycastle and Moyle Council do something for this town. Welcome tesco and any other large shops which will bring a bit of life to this town.

Yours sincerley,

Ballygobackwards ( name and address withheld)
