NORTH Antrim's busiest road is literally going to 'pot', a Times reader has said.
We were contacted by a man, who didn't wish to be named, who said he spotted a 'gaping' hole in the A26 close to the turn-off towards Loughgiel.

He said: "I saw this hole opening up a few weeks ago but obviously the roads people didn't see it beca
use I now notice it has got bigger over the Christmas holidays.

"If a motorbike goes into this hole it could throw off a rider and it is very dangerous. I contacted the police to see if they can put on the pressure for something to be done," said the man.

The pothole is on the main highway close to the side of the road and as such it is probably out of the way for a motorcyclist and even far enough over for most cars to miss.

But one driver who spotted the hole said: "If you hit that pothole you would certainly know about it and in this day and age it is not the sort of thing you expect to see on north Antrim's busiest roads which has thousands of vehicles on it every day."

But the Roads Service were quick to act on the matter once the presence of the pothole was drawn to their attention.

By last Thursday aftenoon a spokeswoman for the Department for Regional Development said it was fixed.
