Paula explains: "I started a work placement at Joanne Hughes salon in Dunloy in my fourth year at school, I must have been around 14 years old.

"I just knew that was what I wanted to do, and loved every minute of it. I left there at 20 and spent a year completing a training course at JTM Hairdressing in Ballymena.

"I then spent three months working at a salon in New York before returning home and working at Super Cuts in Ballymena for two years.
"After working at my dad's restaurant (Village Inn) for a couple of years, I decided I wanted to get back into hairdressing and took the plunge to open my own salon. It's only been a few weeks since I opened the doors on Hutz Cutz however seems to be going really well. I just love getting my teeth into creating a hair cut or colour and seeing the delight a customers has when leaving the salon."

Not only offering nearly eights years knowledge in hairdressing, Paula also boast successes in numerous contests in both Northern Ireland and UK wide.

Paula continues: "When I worked for Joanne I entered a competition with Salon Services in Northern Ireland and came second in two categories including Junior Creative Colour section.

"And while at Super Cuts in 2006 I entered a UK-based Regsis Competition competing with over 3,500 stylists and 400 salons and came in the top eight. This involved travelling to Manchester for a photoshoot - it was an amazing experience."
