AFTER forming back in autumn 2006 Ballycastle-based A Third Time Lucky have finally been making a dent in the local music scene.
Brothers Daniel (19) and Lee (17) Cartwright and friends Daniel Egerton (17) and David Hill (18) started the combo after two failed attempts - hence the name of the band.

Their music has been described as ‘pop punk’ but the boys call themselves ‘f
rat-punk” with influences from bands such as Blink 182 and Yellowcard.

Lee, who is guitar player and one of the vocalists for the band, hopes that they will get noticed.

But in the meantime the boys are intent on simply having fun and writing songs.

Daniel E who takes up drums says: “I hope to sing with our fans not at them”. Bassist and vocalist Daniel C is studying music at university while David, second guitarist and singer is not looking for fame but hopes to keep writing good songs with his best mates.

A Third Time Lucky have had over 25 gigs all over Ireland and been described as “impressive and highly energetic” by the Lair in Limavady.

They also competed in Blast: Beat Battle of the Bands, and even though they didn’t get through they certainly made an impression.

They have plans to play in England, Scotland and Wales over the summer.

A Third Time Lucky will be playing another ‘Battle of the Bands’ event at the Ceili House in Lurgan. They will also be live at the Drumanacoo Punx Picnic in Co Donegal on June 28-29.

The band has recorded a five-track EP called “Four Years…Three Summers” and have plans for an album in the future.
