THIS year's "Legends of Road Racing" exhibition at Ballymoney Museum promises to be something that visitors will never forget.
The unique display will feature helmets, trophies and leathers of the two greatest road racing brothers of all time – World Champion, TT genius Joey Dunlop MBE OBE and his younger brother Robert, the most successful rider ever at the North West 200!

As if that wasn't enough, Linda Dunlop and her family have generously agreed to lend the museum five bikes raced by Joey, making this one of the most outstanding road racing exhibitions ever seen.

"Legends of Road Racing" will be full of road racing nostalgia. In tribute to Joey and Robert, an exhibition of magnificent photographs has been selected by Stephen Davison, Pacemaker Press, Belfast, and local man Clifford McLean of Ballymoney - two of Northern Ireland's foremost bike photographers. The collection of pictures, called "THE BROTHERS", features pictures by Clifford charting Joey and Robert's celebrated careers in their younger days; while Stephen helps to complete the story with breathtaking shots from the more recent glory years.

In addition to the Dunlop treasures, contributions from other local heroes, such as Richard Creith, will also be on display, along with the original North West 200 trophies (1929-1954) kindly on loan from the North of Ireland Motor Club. It's also a chance to discover how road racing began in Ballymoney back in the 1920s.

Friday, 16 May is traditionally the busiest day of the year at Ballymoney Museum and, with so many bikers in the town, the BBC Bus will be parked outside to gather their stories. It is hoped that visiting racing fans will take a few moments to come on board and record some of their favourite memories of the NW200. The museum is also encouraging people to bring along road racing memorabilia and talk about the nostalgic races of years gone by. This will be a chance for the road racing community to talk about why they find their sport so exciting. The BBC and Ballymoney Museum want to know, in the words of the fans, what was so special about watching the Armoy Armada, what makes Joey the greatest, and will Robert Dunlop win a NW200 race again in 2008?

"Legends of Road Racing" will be at Ballymoney Museum from 3 - 31 May, opening hours Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm, with a special opening on Sunday 18 May from 1pm-5pm. Admission is free. For further information, please contact the Tourist Information Centre, Ballymoney Town Hall, Tel: (028) 2766 0230 or Email: museum@ballymoney.gov.uk.
