THE play "The Memory of Water" by Shelagh Stephenson was chosen as Ballymoney Literary & Debating Society's competitive festival entry this year. They played in several Festivals, receiving many nominations, accolades and awards along the way.
In Ballymoney they cam first, winning the Committee Cup for Overall Winner, the Vin Smith Memorial Trophy (Best Director) for Barbara J Cooke, the Lord Antrim Cup for best comedy, Gerry McMuallan won best supporting actor and the team won the Friers Certificate for Décor. In Newtownabbey, the company won the David Brown Orr Trophy for being runner-up, Gail Morrow won the Ulster Bank Trophy for best supporting actress and they also won the Newtownabbey Advertiser Trophy for Technical Merit. In Carrickmore, the Company were again runners-up. Gail Morrow won the May Sheerin Memorial Trophy for best actress and Stuart Wray for best supporting actor.

The above all meant that BLDS were one of the finalists at the Ulster Drama Festival where Gail Morrow won best actress and the Company came third overall.
