ON Wednesday 10 September, Ballymoney Borough Arts Committee's new autumn Programme opens with the delightful hit show Pass the Port with Michael Lunts and Susan Flattery.
Pass the Port is a nautical musical comedy featuring for the first time on stage Noel Coward’s epic comedy poem “P & O 1930”. Relive Coward’s magical evocation of the historic P & O route home to Britain from the Far East – when a voyage took weeks rather than hours – calling in at Singapore, Aden, the Suez, and the Mediterranean, in the company of an eccentric collection of passengers and crew. Their antics, both on and off ship, provide a rich field for some classic Coward wit and some equally classic 30s songs.

Susan Flannery and Michael Lunts first met professionally aboard the QE2. They have gone on to form a partnership that has created a repertoire of original musical revues capturing the humour and style of bygone eras on both sides of the Atlantic. Shows such as More Tea, Vicar?, Pass the Port, Wits’ End, A Wilde Affair, and Home Service have been garnering them an enthusiastic (and growing) following with audiences both at home and abroad, from the furthest corners of the UK to the Middle East and Australia. They have played every type of venue from the largest of theatres to the most intimate of village halls, and from stately homes to major festivals.

Separately Susan and Michael have appeared in numerous West End musicals including Phantom of the Opera, A Little Night Music, Oklahoma! and On Your Toes. While Michael spends most of his time touring his repertoire of one-man shows portraying Chopin, Schubert and Rachmaninov Susan appears regularly at the Royal Opera House and also records film soundtracks including the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Harry Potter movies, and most recently the movie of the musical Mama Mia.

The performance begins at 8pm in Ballymoney Town Hall. Tickets £7, concessions £5 are available from the Town Hall 028 2766 0230.
