Rasharkin business highly commended

“RISE” – an impressive landmark public artwork on Belfast`s Broadway Roundabout – which was constructed for Belfast City Council by M Hasson & Sons, Rasharkin, has been highly commended at the National Structural Steel 2012 Design Awards, which were held in London recently.

Commenting on the success of Northern Ireland nominees in recent national design awards, Alderman Kennedy, Development Chair, said: “It is pleasing that a local business in the Borough has figured in this national competition which recognises high standard of structural and architectural design in the use of steel. I extend hearty congratulations to Hassons on this national achievement.”

The Alderman explained that the sculpture was one of 29 projects shortlisted for the prestigious annual industry awards.

RISE was one of only two projects outside England to be commended at the prestigious awards.

The six overall winners included the Peace Bridge in Derry/Londonderry.
