Karaoke competition and coffee morning raises £882 for RVH
CHILDREN in the Royal Victoria Hospital are set to benefit from new toys and play items thanks to the generosity of patrons of the Rooks Nest in Armoy.
A Karaoke competition and a coffee morning held recently brought in a total of £882 which go to the RVH Sick Children – oncology and haematology departments.
The Karaoke competition was run over a three month period and was eventually won by local girl, Ashley Walker, who was present last week at the Rooks Nest to display the cheque along with Charlene Hargy, who helped organise the coffee morning in memory of her son Mark.
Also present were Rooks Nest management team, Charlie Dobbin and William Huey as well as local DJ Darren Christie who provided the technical assistance for the karaoke contestants.
The Rooks Nest was delighted with the amount and plans to make the Karaoke competition an annual event.
Charlene said the money raised would be divided between the two departments and was more than happy to see it being spent on play things for the young people.
“I wanted to give something back to the RVH for the kindness and care they gave to Mark,” she said.
“We all would like to thank the patrons of the Rooks Nest and the management for their help in making the premises available. We hope that the support we received for these two ventures will be repeated next time,” Charlene said.
