Fire Station call

REACTING to news that £3.5m of NI Fire and Rescue Service funds allocated for building projects has not been spent, Ballycastle SDLP councillor Dónal Cunningham has called for the proposed new Community Fire Station at Ramoan Road in the town to be given urgent immediate priority.

Councillor Cunningham said: “Planning permission for a two-storey state-of-the-art, Community Fire Station was achieved in October 2011; the development has not progressed due to NIFRS budgets. The news that a £3.5m capital project under-spend surely strengthens the case for the Ballycastle project to be progressed.”
