AFTER running nearly 650 miles since the 1st January, Marathon Day is just around the corner for Ballymoney athlete Bryan Edgar.
Bryan is running for the charity Cancer Research raising funds for breast cancer research following the diagnosis of his sister from the disease last year.

The Mayor, Cllr John Finlay launched his fund raising efforts back in January and since then, over £2,300 has been pledged or donated - £300 above his original target!

Bryan said: "It will be 18 years since I last ran a marathon and my silver anniversary since running Belfast. However this year will be my first as a charity fundraiser and I have been absolutely amazed by people's generosity.

"The local community really has dug deep and I would like to thank everyone who has supported me over the last few months whether by financial donations, good wishes or pounding the roads with me early on Sunday mornings and week nights.

"I wish everyone taking part in the Marathon, Relay race and walk good luck but in particular brother-in-law Kieran and fellow Springwell Runners, Alan McKeeman, Chris Capper, Robert Robb and Peter Ferris.
"The latter two are running six marathons in six days in six counties with Belfast being the first, raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support and Alzheimer's Society. If you can spare cash for any of our causes, it would be much appreciated."

Mayor of Ballymoney Cllr Finlay added: "I greatly admire the personal commitment of anyone who takes up the challenge of running the marathon and in particular those who dedicate their efforts for others. I wish Bryan and all concerned best of luck on the day."
