Local resident, Sophia Black, was given the honour of officially opening 'The People's Garden' in Westgate, on behalf of Castle Community Association in Ballymoney.
The redevelopment of the garden has been funded by the 'Small Pockets of Deprivation' programme in conjunction with the Housing Executive and Supporting Communities N.I.

Dessie Hanna commented: "We decided the garden should be called 'The People's Garden' as it is intended to be used by everybody, and everybody is welcome to enjoy th garden".

The mural on display was completed by the younger residents of Westgate, Castle Street and Seymour Drive as part of a youth project carried out by Ballymoney PSNI (R/Constable Tommie Linton), along with Ballymoney Resource Centre (Denise Demrick). The Community Association are proud of this mural and it has received many compliments.

The People's Garden is the latest in a line of events which Castle Community Association has carried out for its residents as part of their 2007-2011 Action Plan.
