DESPITE the inclement conditions a large number of people braved the rain to take part in Friday night's fun run in aid of Cancer Research at the Riverside Park venue.
They were joined by local sporting personalities Margaret Johnston a former World Bowling Champion, Irish Cup finalists, Oran Kearney (Linfield) Stephen Carson (Coleraine), Darren Boyce (Glentoran) and almost the entire squad of Glebe Rangers FC together with representatives of Scorpion Boxing Club.

It was very encouraging to see the large number of young people from Ballymoney Rugby Club under 14 squad taking part. The honour of starting the race was given to former Northern Ireland International and 82 World Cup hero and present football commentator John O'Neill.
They were also joined by a large contingent who elected to walk the 3.5K route. The Council was represented by Alderman Harry Connolly, Deputy Mayor and Mervyn Storey MLA.

Ballymoney Branch Chairman Mervyn Ferris stated: "On behalf of Cancer Research, Ballymoney Committee, I would like to thank all those who took part in this year's event and helped to make it such a success.

Early indications are that over £2,000 has been raised. "Thanks go to those who helped Marshall the event and to Ballymoney Borough Council for granting the use of the venue and to Council staff for their assistance. Also best thanks to members of St John Ambulance Brigade for providing emergency cover."
The race was won by local postman Alex Brennan with runner up being Martin Agnew from Newry.
