The Mill Youth Club and Balnamore Football Club hosted their second annual charity football match on the eve of the wettest day of the year so far - August 16.
Helen Beckett, chair of The Mill Youth Club said: "We are grateful to Balnamore Football Club for their help in organising this event. Once again, friends and family have turned out to help us raise some money for a children's charity.

"A total of just over £250 was raised tonight, with proceeds being donated to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children. I would just like to congratulate all the players, and give a special mention to Beatle Blair for all his help."

The match, which pitched the married men against the single guys, was certainly eventful as far as goal-scoring goes. With a final result of 5- 2, the married men fought a brave, but fruitless battle against a team of dynamic up and coming young players.

One spectator said: "They (the married men) missed a good few chances in the first half, and the single guys were determined to improve on the half-time score of 2-2."

Co-organiser Beatle Blair said: "This is one of the most enjoyable matches of the season for us and it gives us the chance to get past and present players on the pitch together, while supporting a worthy cause.

"The Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children provides expert treatment to children from all over Northern Ireland, and we are proud to help the youth club with this fundraising event. Undoubtedly, Mear McKinnen was the 'Man of the match' running rings round the opposition and showing just what an asset he is to the club. Perhaps the married men will pinch him in time for next year!"
