Moyle's Cultural Tourism Programme is offering community event organisers in Moyle the opportunity to develop and enhance their skills with two free training days about event management.
This 'event-specific' training has been organised following consultation with the newly formed Moyle Events Network who were asked what type of training would help them become more effective event organisers. Attendees will be introduced to various elements of successful event management through the topics chosen by the Network: 'Communications' (covering Marketing & PR, Media Relations and Advertising); and 'Risk Management' (looking at Risk Assessments, Insurance and Health & Safety issues).
Moyle Enterprise Company have been appointed to manage and carry out the training which will take place on Saturday 19th April 2008 and Saturday 10th May 2008 from 9.30am until 3.30pm in the Marine Hotel, Ballycastle. Attendees will also be provided with lunch and refreshments.
Deirdre McNeill, Cultural Tourism Officer with Moyle District Council said, "Moyle Events Network is made up of community based event organisers who plan and deliver a diverse range of events from Family Fun Days and Community Festivals to Sporting and Arts Events.
"The Moyle Events Network is mostly made up of volunteers from the various community organisations who have played a vital role in cultural and tourism development in the Moyle area over the years. This training is only one of a number of joint projects Moyle's Cultural Tourism Programme is working on with the Network to help them develop as a whole. We are also working on a website which will be a great tool for the Network to use to promote themselves and their events to the public, among other things."
Mark Donald is coordinating the training for Moyle Enterprise Company.
He said, "We have booked a number of great marketing and promotional experts who will help these groups market and promote their events on the shoestring budget that most of them have. We have also booked event management specialists, insurance specialists, health and safety and risk management experts, and we have also got insurance professionals to help groups to reduce the risk and increase their protection when organising and delivering their events.
"As well as training each participant will receive a comprehensive 'Resource Reference Manual' which will have practical information and templates to help them manage and market their events. This includes press release templates, media contacts, health and safety checklists, risk assessment templates, and we are also going to allow the Events Network to have unlimited use of our Business Information Resource."
To participate in the training please contact Marc McGerty on 2076 3737 for a Booking Form, or call into Moyle Enterprise Company, 61 Leyland Road, Ballycastle, BT54 6EZ.
