Kenya Coffee Morning was a great success

BALLYMONEY duo Irwin Holmes and James McConaghie from the Kilimanjaro Challenge (2008) team held a very successful Coffee Morning on Saturday, April 12 raising a magnificent £1365.
All the money raised will go as part of the Kilimanjaro Challenge to BCFC Academy which is a Christian based school in Western Pokot, Kenya.

The men were honoured when the principal of the school Miss Noreen McAfee who had been home on three wee
ks leave was able to attend.

The affair became very International when 'Little John' and his wife Elena from Romania were also able to attend. 'Little John' a gospel singer is currently singing at a mission in Ballymoney. Thanks are due to all the ladies who helped with the baking, serving and washing up and also to those who donated to this worthy cause.

Irwin and James are part of a six man team who plan to climb Kilimanjaro the highest mountain in Africa in November to raise funds for building projects at the school. This event plus another coffee morning in Lisburn by Stephen Fletcher another team member together with the teams recent bed push in Cookstown which raised £1730 brings the grand total for the school so far to just over £11,000.

The next event is open to all and is a sponsored climb of Slieve Donard on Monday 5th May (May Day). Already there has been some interest with over 20 registered so far.

Registration costs £5 and collection of a minimum £20 is required. A free T-shirt and other goodies have been donated for those who take part.
