The Glebeside Community House will be a hive of activity next Monday night when the Community Association open their doors to the public with a view to giving everyone the opportunity to speak to their user groups which span all age groups and interests.
The Open Night from 7 to 9pm is another progressive step by the Association who only this year were awarded the Housing Community Network Community Achievement Award, to let local people know about their services and encourage debate.

Iain McAfee
Community Development Officer explained the reason behind the evening:

“Recently we had a survey throughout the estate to gauge interest in already established groups and activities and possible new ideas. From the surveys that were returned we got an excellent response and as such we felt that it would be worthwhile to organise an evening whereby local people who have an interest or would like to speak to someone about what we do could simply come along at their own leisure and have a chat.

“As a result the user groups affiliated to the Association will have a stand and members will be present to talk to people.’

“In the survey some also showed an interest in seeing the Community House facility and volunteering through the Association.

“At present twelve different groups are affiliated to the Association providing social opportunities to young and old. Over forty people are registered as volunteers and the Association takes a strong health approach in all of its work.”

Light refreshments will also be provided on the night.

The easiest way to get to the Community House is by entering the Glebeside estate at Robinson Avenue (Opposite the Ballymoney Health Centre). Then take the first right into Belford Park and the first right again into the cul-de-sac.

The Glebeside Community House is on the right hand side.
