A STAGGERING £77,232 has been raised by Drop Inn Ministries for widows and orphans in Rwanda.
The money was collected thanks to Edwina Chambers, Manager of Drop Inn Shop in Ballymoney after visiting Rwanda two years ago.
She was so touched by the sights, the starvation and poverty where one million people were killed in 100 days of genocide.
When she returned she told her friends, one of them being Breege McAuley of McAuley Car Dismantlers, Armoy who was also very touched when she heard about the genocide.
She decided she would play her part for the widows and orphans in Rwanda by fundraising. And last year, Breege raised thousands, and the latest one was £70 raised during a quiz in Armoy. All this money will go a long way towards building a centre which will be used as a school, hospital, place of worship etc.
Breege continued: “We are now in the process of doing our annual sponsored walk.
“If anyone wishes to help us in this appeal please contact either myself or Edwina at the Drop Inn Shop, Ballymoney.
“The amount needed when Edwina returned from Rwanda was £100,000, to date we have £77,232, which is a great achievement.
“I hope to be going to Rwanda soon with the team to see for myself where our money will be going.”
Edwina and the Drop Inn Ministries would like to thank everyone who has help raise funds for this worthwhile cause.
