MEMBERS of Ballintoy Young at Heart Club recently enjoyed a very interesting trip to Crumlin Road Prison, courtesy of the PSNI Community Service.
They were shown round the various blocks, from reception area to exercise yards, and saw the tunnel leading to the Courthouse across the road.
Their guide brought them to the cells, including the padded cell, and members also visited the cell where condemned men spent their last weeks before execution. They were shown the execution site, and the burial area.
Everyone was relieved to be released without charge, and there were no gate arrests!
Special thanks go to David and Peter, the drivers, who also gave members a sight-seeing tour of North Belfast, with spectacular views over the city from the Cavehill Road.
