THE annual supporters meeting organised by Ballymoney Cancer Research Committee took place on Tuesday 22nd April.
The occasion marked the end of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations with the handing over of a cheque for £52,000 year ending 31st January, to Wendy Williams Area Volunteer Manager, Cancer Research UK.

Ballymoney Chairman, Mervyn Ferris in his address said: "It has been a real community effort by the people of Ballymoney during 2007 and together we have made a magnificent contribution of £52,000 towards Cancer Research.

"As a committee we organised a number of events, such as Fun Run, Annual parade of Bands and Vintage Vehicles, and a Big Breakfast. We also achieved a first place for our Community Float in the Mayor's Parade.

"However many other groups and individuals took it upon themselves to arrange other fundraising events and without their help we could not have achieved such a fantastic sum.
"On behalf of the Ballymoney Committee, I would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to Cancer Research and helped to make our 50th Anniversary year such a success."

The Chairman also paid tribute to the dedication and service given to Ballymoney Cancer Research Committee by the late James Gault who sadly passed away in February. He also acknowledged all donations given to Cancer Research in lieu of flowers, in memory of loved ones who has passed away during the past year and wished to assure that the kindness of such families at such a difficult time is very much appreciated by Cancer Research.

The event concluded with a supper and a presentation of a 50 year Certificate to Mrs Mary Dickie in recognition of her outstanding voluntary service to Cancer Research UK.
