A COUNCILLOR has asked if Moyle Council can provide funding for the Rathmoyle Action Group which was set up to fight for the Ballycastle residential home.
Sinn Fein councillor Paudie McShane believed funding of around £9,000 could be available.

He said the group needs a fighting fund to compete with the “well-budgeted” Northern Trust and also to look at planning issues.

But Moyle Council Chief Executive Richard Lewis said no money was set aside in their budgets this year.

He said they could take legal advice to see if the Council can provide such funding.

Councillor McShane said it is an important issue involving 39 bed spaces and over 40 jobs.

Councillor Madeline Black (SDLP) said as a member of the Rathmoyle Action Group she supports the bid for funding from Council.
