Ballymoney Hospice Group raises £30,000!
BALLYMONEY Northern Ireland Hospice Support Group have announced that they have raised the fantastic sum of £30,000 through various fundraising activities throughout the past year and want to say a big thank you to everyone in the local community who has so generously supported their efforts.
This year the Ballymoney Hospice Support Group are celebrating 21 years of fundraising for Northern Ireland Hospice Care and hoped to raise £21,000 to complement their anniversary.
However, their determination and hard work more than paid off as the group superseded their target and raised a phenomenal £30 000.
The Hospice offers support for patients and their families locally through a day hospice service and by providing hospice care in the comfort of patient's own homes.
Three specialist Hospice Nurses are based in the North Coast area and last year they supported over 200 patients and their families locally.
Announcing the tremendous amount raised Mrs Irene Camac, Chairperson of the group, said: "The support of the local community has enabled us to continue providing local hospice care services, and we are very grateful for this generosity, yet we still have so much to do."
Last year a fourth Hospice Nurse joined the team to specifically help patients with Parkinson's disease and many more patients and their families will need hospice care over the next 21 years.
There is no charge for hospice care and it is available to everyone on the basis of need and with limited government funding the charity is greatly dependant on local people to help raise the funds needed to keep going.
