DALRIADA teacher Annette Scott has recently returned from a 390km cycle challenge through the beautiful northern Indian state of Rajasthan.
The challenge was to raise funds for the Women for Women Charity and the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Trust of which Professor Robert Winston is the Chairman. Many will be familiar with these events thanks to Fern Britton, presenter of 'This Morning' also having taken part.

In total 74 women from all over the UK embarked on the cycle which took the group through many villages which would never be visited by tourists, through miles of stunning countryside, over every type of terrain you could imagine and view so much wild life that we would not see here.

The group had the privilege of visiting many schools enroute to donate stationary and other gifts they had brought.

It was certainly a trip of a life time for Annette, who loved the opportunity to experience such a different culture and glimpse the complexity and intrigue of India.

In total Annette raised over £4,500 for the charity which will go to fund research into cancer, miscarriage, genetic diseases, stillbirth, polycystic ovary syndrome, pre-eclampsia, infertility, obstetric cholestasis and brain injury.

Annette wishes to say a big thank you to all those who sponsored her so generously including Dalriada School World Aid Group and staff, many local businesses, community groups, friends and family.

Lord Professor Robert Winston was unable to join in on this cycle due to the recent death of his mother however to say thank you to the cyclists, Annette (and probably the rest of the group) has been invited to lunch in the house of Lords later in the year.

So she has forsaken her cycle training to look for a hat!
