Work needed on old graveyard - Newcombe

AN old graveyard - reputed to be one of the most ancient in Moyle - needs to be improved.
Sinn Fein councillor Cathal Newcombe - who is a monumental sculptor - said the old Ramoan Graveyard at Novally Road in Ballycastle is in a state of disrepair.

He said there are concerns about trees and there is also a build up of rubbish.

He said the graveyard is home to the remains of many of the old families who contributed so much to Moyle in centuries gone past.

Moyle Council official Aidan McPeake said he understood the Council maintains grass at the graveyard but that walls and the like are the responsibility of others.

The Council has agreed to write to the Environment & Heritage Service.
